The Ausable River Watershed is nationally and internationally known for its  trout fishery, spectacular scenery, and exceptional recreational opportunities such as white-water kayaking, hiking, and skiing.  It is on the list of New York State Wild, Scenic, and Recreational Rivers, and on the National Park Service's Nationwide Rivers Inventory. 

The value of the resource to wildlife, local and state residents, and visitors from around the world is priceless. 

The Ausable River Watershed Community is comprised of 2 counties, 7 Towns & 2 Villages: Essex and Clinton Counties, the Towns of AuSable, Black Brook, Chesterfield, Jay, Keene, North Elba, Wilmington, and the Villages of Keeseville, and Lake Placid.
