Tree Planting on West Branch Ausable River
POSTPONED: Monday, May 11: Dream Mile natural stream restoration project site on West Branch Ausable River
Due to the ongoing NY-PAUSE, we have canceled the community aspect of our May 11 tree planting event. Our staff will still get the trees in the ground, but we are moving all community and group events to the fall. Please stay tuned here or subscribe to our weekly email to learn more about our community planting events for Fall 2020. Please join the Ausable River Association for an Earth Month tree planting at our Dream Mile river restoration site on the banks of the beautiful West Branch Ausable River. From 2017 to 2019, the Ausable River Association coordinated the restoration of a key river reach on the West Branch Ausable River in Wilmington, NY. The project is restoring sinuosity (form) and function to this reach and ensuring the stability of legendary fishing spots. Seeding grasses and native plants and planting trees and shrubs is an important follow up to stabilize the new banks along the restored river reach. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the Ausable River Association will host a volunteer tree planting event on Monday, May 11, 2020, from 10 am to 2 pm. With support from One Tree Planted and the Lake Champlain Basin Program, we invite local groups and community members to help restore riparian habitat on newly built banks at our Dream Mile natural stream restoration project site. For more information and to register for this event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
